The truth about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): Breaking down myths and misinformation
January 11, 2022Talking about generations: Why your birth year can impact how you interact at work – and beyond
February 8, 2022Halie Figueroa started at Rice Education Consulting as a graduate-level intern and fell in love with the company values – and its amazing team.
So much so that she’s now an instructional designer for REdCon, designing and building virtual online training courses.
Halie, who is 24, is originally from Pennsylvania but now lives in Los Angeles. She has a master of instructional technology degree from Bloomsburg University.
Her daily work consists of working with clients to create trainings that are both visually appealing and effective for the learner. This includes designing templates, creating content outlines, building courses, sourcing images, securing voice talent, facilitate reviews, and many other tasks.
“I love working with others and turning ideas into functioning products,” Halie said. “Over my time working at REdCon, I have had the chance to work with some incredible organizations where I feel my work is being used to help others and give representation to underserved groups.”
Halie was searching for meaningful work that could make a real – and lasting – impact. While the work isn’t always easy, Halie said she knows that she is making a difference.
“Working in the DEI space has given me a sense of purpose at work and that’s what keeps me going,” she said.
Outside of work, Halie – as a relatively new Californian – loves spending time outdoors hiking or hitting the beach. She also likes to explore LA by going to farmers’ and flea markets, trying local restaurants, and touring iconic landmarks.
And you might spot her in a TV show or movie one day – she’s a registered background talent!
“I hope to land some background roles in tv shows and movies one day,” she said.
Halie is always pushing herself to try new things, after all!
That’s why her favorite quote is this, from Margaret Mead:
“Always remember that you are absolutely unique, just like everyone else.”
